WORLD HANDBALL 2023: Cameroon, Senegal and Angola in the group stage

Cameroon, Senegal and Angola grace Africa at the group stage.

The three African nations have snatched their qualifying tickets for the second round of the handball world championship and will compete in the main round in the form of a championship for a place in the quarter-finals. The competition takes place from November 29 to December 5, 2023 in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.

The African countries taking part in the world handball championship have been doing well since the start of the competition on November 29, 2023. Hanging in the first two matches, 25 against 11 points against Montenegro and 30 against 20 against Hungary, the Cameroon's representatives at this competition were able to qualify for the main round on the last day. They defeated Paraguay 23 against 26. For this handball championship which is played in three countries namely: Denmark, Sweden and Norway, Cameroon entered the competition with the aim of qualifying for the next round. Bérin Njantou “  Our objective was to go to the main round and we think we have the means. We are going to give everything we have and play hard.”  The finalists of the African Cup of Nations will continue the competition against Austria and South Korea.

For Senegal, the Lionesses of Teranga are in their second participation after the lousy expedition of 2019. Like Cameroon and Angola, they will compete in the main round despite the difficult challenge of winning. They beat China 15 to 22, having stumbled against Sweden 18 to 26 and 22 to 22 against Croatia. This performance secured them a place in the main round. Yacine Messaoudi, coach of the Senegal national team, “  We gave a lot and there we have girls on our knees. Doudou Camara who plays with kneecaps. Soukei who couldn't finish the match. You also need to diagnose your injury. The first element is the recovery and then the evaluation of the girls with whom we are going to play the match.”  In addition to Hungary, Senegal will face Montenegro and finally Cameroon in the quest for a place in the quarter-finals.

The third African team qualified is Angola. This team no longer has these assets from 2007. Angola has lost many gems like Magda Cazanda, and is struggling to stand out on the offensive line. For the first three matches, Angola tied 26 to 26 with Iceland, 29 to 30 in favor of France and 24 to 30 also against Slovenia.

Congo, which fell three times, a first against the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Argentina, returns with a good dose of experience. However, the Congolese women will compete for the President's Cup to draw a final conclusion to this competition. They will play against Chile, Iran and Kazakhstan. As for the handball world championship, it will take place until December 5, 2023 in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
