The call of the honorable Jean Michel NINTCHEU to pool the forces of the people of change during the trials
haines élections présidentielles de 2025
Dear Compatriots,
I entered politics very young in 1990. Very early on, I created a political party, the RAP. But, given the explosive social and political situation in the country, from 1992, I was at the forefront of the ALLIANCE (UNION) FOR CHANGE which carried the victorious candidacy of president of the SDF , Ni John FRU NDI ; victory which unfortunately was stolen by Mr. Paul BIYA. I worked so hard for this Union for Change that my party downgraded its identity for a partnership with the SDF.
UNFORTUNATELY, time has PROGRESSIVELY exposed the moral weaknesses of the SDF leadership. On problems involving the life of our nation such as the Anglophone crisis which was voluntarily transformed into a civil war by the regime of M BIYA -RDPC, the leadership of the SDF displayed its moral and political vacuity, preferring the gold of the Republic to the lives of our English-speaking compatriots. This leadership of the SDF went so far as to summon, with the CPDM , the government of the United States of America to repatriate to Cameroon many compatriots who managed to flee the war in the NOSO, these two regions having nevertheless been decreed " economically disaster areas” by the Prime Minister. Several situations, all linked to moral considerations in politics, justify the end of my alliance with the SDF. However, it is the abandonment of the English-speaking populations in the hands of a heartless (inhuman) regime and for whom the life of a citizen from the North-West and South-West regions is worth nothing, which is the main reason for our divorce (which sealed the end of our alliance). So, in addition to the financial scandals which mark the 41 years of the regime of Mr. Paul BIYA , the extent of his multifaceted incompetence characterized by the moral disintegration of society, the infrastructural dilapidation, the rampant poverty of the populations, the absence total perspective for young people etc..., it is the refusal of those in power to put an end to the useless and fratricidal civil war underway for seven years in the English-speaking regions of our country which compels me to launch this patriotic appeal to the pooling of the forces of the People of Change. Our nation is seriously threatened by implosion. It is threatened not only by civil war but also by state tribalism. This state tribalism to which power resorts is a highly toxic poison for our common future.
Aware therefore of this real threat of implosion of our nation; as a citizen and as a political leader; but also convinced that Mr. Paul BIYA and his party, the RDPC, are today definitely a burden for national cohesion and harmony, for the moral, political, social, economic, financial and infrastructural recovery of our country, I invite all citizens of good will, all women and men in politics who pursue politics in the effective interest of the people, pro-democracy civil society, academics, intellectuals, women and men of culture to respond favorably to my call for the pooling of the forces of the People of Change.
The situation is serious! Cameroon is on the edge of a precipice. It is imperative to get him out of the long agony into which Mr. Paul BIYA and his friends have plunged him for several years already. We no longer have the right to indifference. Our lives, those of our children and future generations depend on it. History will be very hard on us if we do not have the political and patriotic upsurge necessary to save us, collectively, from the prepared drowning that is on the horizon. From this perspective, we must have the lucidity to objectively observe our political scene and see the leadership that emerges from the opposition. All considerations taken into account, the opposition politician who gives insomnia to power is today the national president of the MRC, Professor Maurice KAMTO . If we draw a parallel with the political excitement of the early 1990s, Maurice KAMTO is for the presidential election of 2025, the Chairman NI JOHN FRU NDI of the presidential election of 1992. He is the one behind whom Cameroonians can repair the terrible damage political born from the historic electoral hold-up of 1992 which put Cameroon in the chaotic and disastrous state in which it finds itself today. And that the one of 2018 did not repair, on the contrary.
Yes, we are only human beings and therefore no one is perfect. People among us, women and men of opposition, pro-democracy civil society, academics, intellectuals, women and men of culture as well as the diaspora could, rightly or wrongly, have reasons to reproach the MRC and its national president, Professor Maurice KAMTO , for this attitude or that behavior and what not. He is human and he is a Human. However, the issue of democratic alternation at the top of the State during the next presidential election must be, for every Cameroonian and for every serious political leader aware of the future of the country, the ultimate political goal of the hour.
The Cameroonian people can't take it anymore! He is exhausted by more than 40 years of kleptocratic, casual and inhumane governance.
We must stand up as one man to come to his aid.
In 1990, Maurice KAMTO, a young university professor with a well-established academic and administrative career, had, with rare courage in our society at the time and even today, publicly taken a position for the candidacy of NI JOHN FRU NDI, Chairman of the SDF. He was not an activist, much less a sympathizer of the SDF. And during the presidential campaign, he made a historic and electric intervention which galvanized youth and intellectual circles. Today, it is he who represents the Breath of Hope for our people. It would therefore only be fair if we made all our contribution to enable him to deliver us from more than 40 years of inhuman suffering. Also, in the wake of his unfailing and unconditional support spontaneously given to the candidacy of Chairman NI JOHN FRU NDI in the 1992 presidential election, I undertake, from today, to take up my pilgrim's staff to mobilize, in the framework of pooling the forces of the People of Change, behind their candidacy for the next presidential election.
I therefore solemnly announce to Cameroonians that in the following days, I will meet politicians, pro-democracy civil society figures, academics, intellectuals, women and men of culture of the ten regions of the country, and the diaspora to explain to them that it is a civic duty, a political and democratic imperative to support the candidacy of the national president of the MRC, Professor Maurice KAMTO, during the next presidential election. I will meet with all national opposition political leaders, including those currently in alliance with the ruling party; I will exchange with CPDM activists who, like ordinary Cameroonians, see that our country needs a new political breath, in short I will meet as many personalities from various backgrounds as possible in order to convince them to support this candidacy of the president national of the MRC, Maurice KAMTO. I am going to meet our compatriots from the two English-speaking regions of the country to explain to them that, given the constant positions of Professor Maurice KAMTO and the MRC on the English-speaking crisis, their unreserved condemnation of the military solution adopted by the government to put an end to the unnecessary civil war that resulted from it, of their respect for the historical and current suffering unjustly inflicted on them, the candidacy of Maurice KAMTO and his victory in the next presidential election is a unique opportunity for peace through inclusive political dialogue . I am going to meet the English-speaking diaspora throughout the world to explain to all its members that by supporting a candidate like Professor Maurice KAMTO for whom the solution to the current civil war cannot be found elsewhere than around an inclusive political dialogue is THE ULTIMATE CHANCE for lasting and lasting peace in our country.
THE CHANGE IS NOW !!
The Honorable Jean Michel NINTCHEU
