PAUL ATANGA NJI OR PERMANENT Muzzling

Despotic monopolization of power, permanent protests against the opposition, threats to freedom of expression, distrust of human rights NGOs, recurrent intimidation of independent media, banning of coalitions...

Paul Atanga Nji appears as an extraordinary political phenomenon, contrary to the course of history. A sort of epistemological curiosity, which questions and intrigues. A being who likes to liven up melodramas, to set traps, to discredit and to wage war, especially when he has opposition or related structures in front of him. For him, politics is a ring, a bullfight where only the bull or the matador should live. With him, no dialogue or respite is possible. Absolutely everything must be done to keep your champion in power. Do everything, including anything.

Using and abusing the prerogatives of his functions, he expresses reservations when he does not simply prohibit everything that comes from the opposition. Sometimes acting in place of other ministries, it monopolizes functions sometimes devolved to the Ministry of Finance, as was the case with Maurice Kamto's Cameroon Survival initiative, or to the Ministry of Communication. Hence his persistent request made to the governor of the Littoral, on November 11, 2022, so that the latter takes energetic measures against Equinoxe Télévision, a journalist and a panelist, for having “offended” the head of state , during a discussion around a television set. Using his loud words and wriggling on the platform of threats, of constraint, he ignores conformities and social norms, using unfriendly expressions, when he deals with personalities who do not share the same ideology or simply the same opinion as him.

Proud to settle down without frills on the balcony of comfort of denigration, he comes to sow discord within the opposition parties. Taking advantage of the supervision he exercises over associations and political parties, he belches with pleasure, in the upheavals that he constantly creates and supports. Between frogs and intrigues, he likes to inject venom into opposition political groups. Playing with their leaders, having this or that part of the association controlled by thurifers designated by him, he likes to create double identities. Puffing out his chest, he robs the legitimaries and appoints whoever he wants, at the head of various political organizations. He tries to rule them from a distance, through decisions, press releases, notes, or circulars.

The time has come for the presidential election and here we are again Paul Atanga Nji in his favorite role of dynamiter of the opposition. Using false pretexts, he leads the stunned public to believe that political coalitions have suddenly become illegal. So what was the G20 doing during the 2018 presidential election? This coalition which supported Paul Biya to the point of hoisting Momo Jean de Dieu on his pedestal as Minister Delegate for Justice? Was it also illegal?

Furthermore, a few small groups, for a long time, have been roaming the country, holding meetings and meetings, claiming to be "Frankism", "Ngoh Ngohism" or even "DYNAREP" launched in Monatélé on March 24 without an ounce of related document to any legality whatsoever. The latter, however, hold the upper hand, including in media forums, without making Atanga Nji flinch.

Would the legality of political associations be homing? Variable geometry? Would the legality of political coalitions be questionable, even though they are made up of entirely legal political organizations?

With Paul Atanga Nji, we are now entering head on, into a zone of turbulence shrouded in a noxious atmosphere, made up of traps and traps. A zone of chained freedom, of freedom cloistered by forms of nameless allegiances. A tyranny chloroformed in the dens of distorted state structures, petrified by the permanent fear of their manipulators, of losing privileges and other privileges. A joyful tyranny then sets in, which belches out its annoyances, in its most dangerous forms, in defiance of national cohesion and public tranquility. A tyranny which gives rise to angry amalgamations, masters of illusionism. A tyranny that illuminates the voracity of its ogres. The latter, moreover, live in impertinent luxury, without ever ceding anything positive to the hungry people they claim to serve. Also, this people is almost always under the influence of blackmail and permanent muzzling. So the question arises as to how long he will continue to walk with a knife at his neck.
